Schizophrenia is a mental disease which impacts on the way you think, feel and act. Schizophrenia symptoms can be grouped into two types- positive symptoms or the psychotic ones and negative symptoms.
The positive symptoms bring changes in the way the patient of schizophrenia behaves in relation to his thought and perception. He may be hallucinating very often and may have delusions, not being able to differentiate between what is real and what he is imagining to be real. These imaginations are usually inclined towards a particular theme with which the sufferer gets obsessed. They may see, hear, feel or smell things that are not present in real but perceived only by them. They may also start acting upon some make belief idea that they are convinced of but nothing of that sort has happened in reality. The negative symptoms totally cut down the person from normal activities of life. He gets withdrawn into a cocoon where he confines himself physically and mentally.
A person suffering from schizophrenia completely loses his actual cognitive ability. He is not able to think straight, gets confused and thoughts become disordered. All these symptoms come in the way of the person leading a normal life.
